Recro is here for you during this time – even if you just want to vent to another small business owner about the craziness or bounce some ideas off us.
We have thankfully digitized most of our systems and offerings, so we are amped to keep you properly supported through lockdown. Face-to-face meetings will be kept to a minimum but technology is saving the day so we can still be in touch via Zoom or Skype.
Borrowed from Rob Stokes but echoed by us, please know the following:
- First and most important, acknowledge within yourself that now is your time to properly lead. Lead yourself before you lead others.
- Your number one priority is to get your ship to the other side, the only things you cannot sacrifice to get there are your values or the ship’s values.
- There is always an opportunity in every big and small disaster. Your job is to keep your people finding these positives. It is all about Creative Thinking.
- Listen to all the facts and opinions, but there is no time for decision-by-committee.
- Make decisions that are fast, but not rash.
- Make decisions that are brave, but not foolish.
- Whatever your decision, make it, be confident in it, move on and ensure your team commits behind it no matter what. Change your mind only if the data changes.
- Be thoughtful, but move forward a little faster that you are comfortable with. We don’t have the luxury of comfort in war.
- You are going to make a lot of mistakes, get over them, learn from them and move forward fast.
- Communicate more than you think is necessary to all those you are leading, both internally and externally. Your staff are vital but don’t forget that your customers are also looking to you for leadership.
Now is your time. You have been preparing for this moment your whole life. Dig deep, think creatively and show us what a growth mindset can achieve. Everyone is depending on you. The world needs you to survive because you are running the engine of our economy. No pressure!
