Recro Business Services is headed up by Claire Kolbé. Claire is a chartered accountant (SA), a registered auditor and an accredited SAICA skills assessor with 25 years of experience.

During her 11 ½ years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, she held the management portfolios of Kwazulu-Natal’s Regional Training and Methodology, Risk Management and Audit Software Support as well as her corporate audit portfolio which included JSE-listed entities and a number of different industries.

She worked with the PwC national office in rolling out new methodology and training programs, represented the South African firm overseas being part of the global training course development team and was part of the national quality review team. She worked in the Pietermaritzburg, Durban, Harare and Malawi offices, the latter two of which she was responsible for assisting in the improvement of the quality standard of audits to meet the firm’s standard of quality.

After leaving PricewaterhouseCoopers she worked in commerce as a global reporting manager for three years implementing IFRS and a system automation project for a United Kingdom-based company with eight international offices, before starting her own practice, Recro Business Services in Cape Town in 2009. She has been involved with pre-issuance and quality review audits for the Auditor General and ICAN as well as assisting as an expert and quality control reviewer on larger audits.

Why I love what I do

The key to loving the work that you do is finding passion and purpose in it. I qualified as a chartered accountant 17 years ago, and this together with my six years of articles and as a supervisor, I have a wealth of business experience to bring to any individual and company.

I love what I do because every day I meet a wonderful variety of people to whom I can make a difference too. Whether it is the individual salaried employee taxpayer whom I can take the stress and concern of SARS compliance away; or to the small business owner who needs guidance and setup of budgets, processes, accounting systems and financial statements for financing; or the larger business who needs structuring solutions for their employees or automation and efficiency of their accounting systems; I get to make a valued difference in each of these persons lives and take the stress away from compliance and the financial side of running their business while helping them make better financial decisions
